Barkly Pearl Update

Published: Friday, 8 January 2021 at 3:23:16 PM

Mid West Ports Authority has been advised that the loading operation of Barkly Pearl on to the heavy lift ship Falcon was successful overnight.

Sea fastening and associated inspections are being carried out in preparation for the Falcon to sail from Abrolhos Island on Sunday, 10 January 2021.

MWPA acknowledges the considerable collaboration efforts of Australian Maritime Safety Association (AMSA), Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) and Department of Transport, WA (DoT, WA), to ensure the operation was carried out safely and successfully.

We wish all those aboard the Barkly Pearl and Falcon a safe journey.

Note the calm weather conditions allowing a film of coral spawn also visible in the images. This is a natural phenomenon which is entirely normal for the area at this time of year and is not associated with the lift operations and is not any form of pollutant.
