Volunteering

The contribution of our volunteers is highly valued and appreciated at Mid West Ports Authority (MWPA).

Several of our services would not be possible without the expertise and experience that volunteers contribute to the Port of Geraldton’s operations. Our volunteers come for all walks of life, but each enjoy the benefits volunteering provides, whether it be learning new skills, connecting with the community or a positive impact on their physical or mental health.

In what way can I volunteer with MWPA?

MWPA welcomes volunteers in two main areas of our operations, including the arrival of cruise ships and the facilitation of tours of Geraldton Port.

Meet & Greet Volunteers
Our highly regarded Meet & Greet Volunteer team assist in providing a warm welcome to visiting cruise ships. They play an important role in the success of cruise ship visits to Geraldton and provide an enthusiastic first (and last) point of contact to our passengers. They are also responsible for providing tourist information and directions to passengers upon request.

Volunteer Tour Guides
The Port of Geraldton has stood as the gateway to trade and tourism in regional Western Australia and the Mid West region for over a century. It is recognised as a significant piece of local history and important to the people of Geraldton. Our Volunteer Tour Guides assist in allowing our community to access and be involved in this history by hosting monthly tours through the Port.

How does MWPA support volunteers?

We value volunteers as a crucial part of the MWPA team.

We aspire to ensure your volunteer experience is an enjoyable one, and our commitment to you is to align with Australian best practice standards for volunteer programs, to promote a safe, enjoyable and supportive environment for all.

Training and support will be provided to interested applicants, while MWPA are also committed to ensuring we regularly celebrate the achievements of our volunteers through service recognition, regular social events and meaningful engagement.

MWPA also provides volunteers with regular social catch-ups and invitations to all Port events.
