MWPAs Business Continuity and Emergency Response Plans continue to play a major role in our management and impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The development of sub-plans specific to COVID-19 have included:
- Infectious Diseases Management;
- Infectious Disease Personnel Management;
- Safety Management;
- Crisis Communications; and
- Procurement and Commercial Management.
Those that work on the port would have seen and felt the implications of some of these plans:
- Quarantine restrictions on all vessel crew in line with ABF requirements;
- Increased security and access relating directly to the health of workers;
- Improved hygiene and cleaning in common areas; and
- Implementation of physical distancing measures, including restrictions on occupancy levels in enclosed rooms, for example.
Other measures as a result of these plans are more discrete, but just as necessary and important, i.e. protocols to protect our vulnerable persons and positions.
All of the above measures, are necessary to ensure the ongoing operations of the major economic driver in our region, our port.
Our leading priority continues to be the health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce, stakeholders and Mid West community as we navigate our way through these times. We thank you for your understanding, cooperation and patience.
