Community representatives sought for reconciliation

Mid West Ports Authority (MWPA) recognises and acknowledges that the Mid West region has a rich Aboriginal heritage which plays an important role in the culture of our community.

The Port endeavours to promote and facilitate trust, respect and positive relationships between our people and the Mid West Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The development and implementation of a MWPA Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) will inform and guide the organisation on its reconciliation initiatives moving forward.

To assist in this, MWPA is seeking membership from the community to sit on its RAP Working Group (RAPWG).

General Manager, Sustainability, Culture and People, Vickie Williams said “the MWPA RAP Working Group will guide MWPA’s reconciliation initiatives and advise the executive and Board on priorities of the Mid West Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community”.

“MWPA acknowledges the importance of reconciliation to our region and the role our organisation can play in modelling and influencing behaviour internally and externally as an industry leader” she said.

Expressions of Interest applications from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community with strong connections to the Mid West, who understand the priorities of the community and have a demonstrated commitment to supporting the rights and wellbeing of Aboriginal people are encouraged.

Expressions of interest closed 9am, 1 November 2021.
