LATEST ROUND OF COMMUNITY GRANTS OPEN

Local community groups and organisations seeking financial support are encouraged to apply for the 2020-21 Mid West Ports Authority (MWPA) Community Grants Program.

Applications for the latest round of funding are now open with the program supporting local groups and organisations making a positive contribution to the Mid West region, aligned with MWPAs organisational values.

MWPA Chief Executive Dr Rochelle Macdonald encouraged Mid West groups to apply.

“Many of the amazing local organisations and groups in the Mid West region work off the support of volunteers and can have very tight budgets,” she said.

“The Mid West Ports Authority Community Grants Program can be a huge relief to these groups and can provide an opportunity to get new and exciting projects off the ground that will ultimately benefit the region.”

The first round of the MWPA Community Grants Program injected $119,998.94 into the Mid West Community throughout 2019-20.

Mid West Charity Begins at Home, the Geraldton Bowling Club, Shine Today and the Midwest Multicultural Association were among those to benefit from the grants.

“We had many really worthy applications for our grants program last financial year,” Dr Rochelle Macdonald said.

“Each application was considered by a committee, assessed to identify those that align closest with our eligibility requirements and the overall vision and values of the Port. It was fantastic to see so many active community groups in the Mid West contributing substantially to the vibrancy of our region.

“We’re looking forward to seeing some of the great upcoming projects, events and initiatives that will be uncovered during our current funding round.”

Grants are available for up to a maximum amount of $10,000.

Applications can be made through the Mid West Ports Authority website and must be received prior to the program’s closing date at 9am on Monday, 18 January 2020.
