Mid West Ports Authority (MWPA) are excited to embrace the red and yellow flags as the Geraldton Surf Lifesaving Club are announced as the successful recipient of the MWPA Not-for-Profit Partnership Program.

The collaborative partnership with MWPA, valued at over $22,000, will provide the Club with both monetary and in-kind support over the next three years.

MWPA Acting Chief Executive Officer Damian Tully said the Geraldton Surf Lifesaving Club (GSLSC) had been a standout among many fantastic local organisations to have applied.

“This is the inaugural year of our Not-for-Profit Partnership Program and we’re thrilled to now be working with an organisation who have spent almost a century keeping our beaches and community safe,” he said.

“MWPA values the importance of building meaningful relationships with our community. The award of this partnership allows us to work closely with an amazing local organisation over an extended period, providing valuable support and community capacity building opportunities.”

Geraldton Surf Lifesaving Club have been patrolling and keeping Back Beach safe for over 90 years, while also providing a fun and active club for the community to get involved with.

GSLSC President Sally McKenzie said they were looking forward to the opportunities the partnership would provide.

"We are really excited to be chosen for the partnership and can't wait to work with MWPA. Having the support of a trusted local employer to help us achieve our goals will be terrific.”
Organisations who may have missed out on this year’s partnership are encouraged to apply again when the annual program reopens in 2023.

Mr Tully also encouraged applications in the 2022 MWPA Community Grants Program, due to open next month.

“We’re looking forward to hearing about some of the fantastic programs, events and initiatives looking to get a leg up in this year’s program. We’ve supported many worthwhile organisations in the past and can’t wait to see what 2022 brings.”
