After an extensive and prolonged recruitment process the Mid West Ports Authority (MWPA) Board is pleased to announce their new Chief Executive Officer, Damian Tully.

MWPA Board Chair, Noel Hart said “Damian has been acting in the CEO role for the last twelve months, and in this time has demonstrated considerable leadership, overseen significant milestones and has become well connected with staff, stakeholders and the community.

“Damian is very familiar with the MWPA environment, and understands our priorities and the key projects which require our focussed attention.  He will provide critical leadership as we navigate a significant growth period at the port and is the right choice as CEO to guide this process.”

In the last twelve months with Mr Tully as CEO, MWPA has completed a number of major projects including maintenance dredging of the commercial harbour and navigational channel, and the Wharf 4 deck and rail upgrade.  In addition, several major projects are at various stages of construction and development including, port wide fire-fighting, eastern breakwater jetty and Marine Terrace roundabout, while further projects are being developed for funding submissions and approval.

Mr Tully was appointed as the General Manager, Operations and Logistics in March 2020 as a highly accomplished and experienced maritime industry professional.

Noel stated that “Damian has demonstrated his capability to manage competing priorities in an ever changing environment which have resulted in extremely positive outcomes for the Port.  Indeed, it is a most exciting period for MWPA. We are very pleased to welcome him as CEO in a permanent capacity.”

Incoming CEO, Damian Tully said “I am honoured to accept the CEO position at MWPA as the business embarks on a very exciting period of development which will see significant opportunities and improvements at MWPA.”

Mr Tully’s tenure is effective immediately.
