MWPA have gone pink for Breast Cancer Awareness month

Mid West Ports Authority were pretty in pink during October as staff raised awareness of a
cause close to the hearts of many at Geraldton Port.

MWPA traded the standard orange and blue PPE for a splash of pink to honour Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

With over 140 staff working at the Port, more than 70 per cent chose to participate in the initiative and made a personal donation to the
National Breast Cancer Foundation.

MWPA Chief Executive Rochelle Macdonald said together they had raised $1512.55.

“We took part in the pink shirt initiative to stand by those who have been affected by breast cancer,” she said.

“Everyone has been touched by it in some way, whether it be themselves, their friends, sisters, mums or grandmas.

“Our staff are no different and we wanted to do our part in showing them our support.

“Until we find a cure, making sure people are aware of the signs and symptoms is crucial and initiatives like the pink shirt campaign are
a perfect way of getting the message out there.”

MWPA have committed to taking part in the annual October awareness initiative in coming years.
