Mid West Ports is proud to announce that its Environment Team has been named a finalist in the 2025 Golden Gecko Awards for Environmental Excellence.
Noted as one of Western Australia’s most respected acknowledgements of environmental leadership and innovation, the Golden Gecko Awards recognise organisations across the state that go above and beyond regulatory requirements, setting new standards in environmental stewardship.
Nominated as a finalist for its Marine Environmental Quality Monitoring Program (MEQMP), Mid West Ports has worked in partnership with Pilbara Ports, Fremantle Ports, Kimberley Ports and O2 Marine to demonstrates a coordinated, risk-based approach to protecting and enhancing Western Australia’s marine environments.
Voluntarily developed and maintained across multiple years, the MEQMP goes well beyond minimum compliance through long-term trend detection, early identification of environmental risks, and the generation of high-quality data to inform port planning, impact mitigation and transparent reporting to regulators, stakeholders and the community.
The State Government’s Golden Gecko Awards highlight those who adopt innovative techniques, share learnings across industry and government, and deliver outstanding environmental outcomes within WA’s world-class resources sector.
