On Sunday, Mid West Ports proudly hosted its inaugural READY! Expo on the Geraldton Foreshore. This unique community event showcased a day filled with educational fun, focusing on safety and emergency preparedness.
The READY! Expo brought together local emergency services, health organisations, self-defence professionals and wildlife experts in a comprehensive workshop and stallholder exhibition.
The day was packed with activities suited for all ages, all aimed at strengthening community knowledge and enhancing preparedness.
One of the highlights of the day was the "Boat Sinks - What's Next?" session led by volunteers from Geraldton’s Marine Rescue. Participants experienced the educational value of a live-action water rescue simulation, which included a flare demonstration. The display imparted crucial survival skills and knowledge about maritime safety to those in attendance.
Mid West Ports CEO Damian Tully said, “safety is a guiding principle at Mid West Ports and the READY! Expo offers us the chance to provide value to our community members by assisting them in being prepared for unexpected situations.
“We would like to extend enormous thanks to all our volunteer organisations who provide so much support and value to our community on a daily basis, and who have also supported this event and the opportunity to educate our community.”
Scouts WA and Play More added to the adventure of the day with hands-on experiences designed to educate and inspire younger attendees in a fun, interactive environment.
Mid West Ports was thrilled with the community's response to the READY! Expo which has been successful in offering valuable learning opportunities and fun for the entire family.
