2021-22 Community Grants Program

Almost $100,000 has been distributed through the Mid West Ports Authority 2021-2022 Community Grants program, benefitting 21 diverse projects and events across the region.

Centacare Family Services, Champion Bay Senior High School, Geraldton Waterpolo Association and Irwin Districts Historical Society were among the recipients to benefit in the third year of the funding program.

Mid West Ports Authority Acting Chief Executive Officer, Sandra Pigdon, said there were many strong applicants in this year’s round.

“We received many fantastic applications from across the Mid West – it is incredibly gratifying to see some of the amazing work being done across our community,” she said.

“This year’s applicants range from community events to sporting and cultural initiatives – all benefiting different aspects of our region.

“We are incredibly proud to now have the opportunity to support these local organisations for the benefit of our community. Congratulations to all our successful recipients.”

The recipients of the third round of the Community Grants Program include:

  • Champion Bay Senior High School, First Lego League event;
  • Woorree Scout Group, replacement of A-frame tents;
  • St Mary's School, cyclone repairs;
  • Centacare Family Services, establishment of a Father’s Group;
  • Latitude Jewellers, Flotsam and Jetsam event;
  • Geraldton PCYC, support of the Razzamatazz show;
  • Geraldton Cycling Advocacy Group, community bike racks project;
  • Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation, Youth Explorer Voyage;
  • Geraldton Water Polo Association, Country Week event;
  • St Francis Xavier Netball Club, equipment upgrade;
  • Midwest Disaster Relief, shelving project;
  • Irwin Districts Historical Society, significance assessment training;
  • Geraldton RSL, ANZAC Day celebrations;
  • Geraldton Gymnastics Club, equipment upgrade;
  • Great Northern Football League Umpires Association, refurbishment of telecommunication equipment;
  • TS Morrow - The Unit Support Committee TS Morrow Incorporated, navigation equipment upgrade;
  • Ocean Heroes, Ocean Heroes Geraldton 2022 Program;
  • Midwest Multicultural Association, Geraldton cultural festivals;
  • Spalding Park Horse and Pony Club, equipment upgrade;
  • Wandina Playgroup Inc, young artists program; and
  • Geraldton Junior and Senior Motocross Club, Motorbikes 4 Mental Health Open.

Each of these groups were assessed by a grants committee as making a positive contribution to the Mid West region, aligned with MWPA’s organisational values.
